Congress restores local college’s funding through August

WASHINGTON — Legislators got the message.
Members of the U.S. Congress have finally understood the importance of tribal technical colleges on the reservations, and in a last-minute decision restored the funding for these institutions in the continuing resolution for fiscal year 2011, according to Carrie Billy, president of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, an advocacy organization based in Washington.
